A 24-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after video surfaced of a car being driven into groups of people in Essex.
Police appealed for help yesterday when a horrifying Snapchat video began to circulate showing a dark car mowing down pedestrians in Chandlers Way, Romford, Essex.
The video – posted under the username ‘Junior U’ – was accompanied with the caption ‘looool bad man!!!’ and a Snapchat sticker that read: ‘Turnt’.
Details about the condition of those hit by the car have not been released by police.
In the video, the driver of the car swerves off the road and appears to head directly for a group of people – hitting one individual.
The car then swings around and again drives directly into another group of people who are standing in front of some railings.
After the car hits the first person, the person filming can be heard saying ‘he’s ok, he’s ok, go on.’
After the second collision, the same person says ‘he’s dead, he’s dead’.
Meanwhile, onlookers can be heard screaming and crying in the background.
After the video emerged yesterday, Romford Town police took to Twitter to appeal for help tracing the people seen in it.
MPS Romford Town tweeted: ‘We are aware of a video circulating on social media which shows a car driving at several people in Chandlers Way Romford.
‘We would urge anyone who was there at the time of the incident to make with police as soon as possible. Thank you’.
Today, the force confirmed it had arrested a 24-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder.
