Willian believes summer signings Mateo Kovacic and Jorginho have been Chelsea’s standout players in training so far this season.
Chelsea have won their two opening matches in the Premier League, bouncing back from a 2-0 defeat to Manchester City in the Community Shield, and Maurizio Sarri is beginning to implement his style following Antonio Conte’s departure.
Sarri was determined to bring Jorginho with him from Naples to Stamford Bridge and the 26-year-old midfielder has impressed, playing the full 90 minutes in Chelsea’s victories over Huddersfield and Arsenal.
Kovacic, who completed a season-long loan from Real Madrid, is yet to start as he works his way back to full fitness but the Croatian has impressed Willian at Chelsea’s Cobham training ground.
Asked who has been the best player in training this term, the Brazilian told Chelsea’s official website: Everyone has been training well but I would say Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic have been very good.
‘They both bring a lot of quality to the team.’
Jorginho’s agent revealed earlier this week that the Brazilian-born Italy international is adapting well to life in England.
Joao Santos told Radio CRC: ‘Jorginho has started his adventure at Chelsea very well.
‘He’s already integrated himself, plus he also speaks English well, so he’s not having any problems settling.
‘When a player is good, he can play in any League. Stereotypes matter little. If a player has quality, they can make the grade anywhere.’
