Maurizio Sarri has ruled out Ruben Loftus-Cheek leaving Chelsea this summer, but admitted that he will review the midfielder’s future in December.

Loftus-Cheek spent the 2017-18 season on loan at and his performances at Selhurst Park earned him a place in England’s squad.

After starting twice for Gareth Southgate’s side in Russia, Loftus-Cheek returned to Chelsea looking to establish himself as a first-team regular.

However, after making a substitute appearance against Huddersfield on the opening day of the season, Loftus-Cheek was left out of the squad entirely for Chelsea’s game against Arsenal.

Explaining his decision, Sarri said: ‘I chose to put on the bench two wingers. I’ve spoken with him twice after I spoke with the club.

The £57million signing of Jorginho from Napoli and the loan addition of Mateo Kovacic from Real Madrid have seemingly pushed Loftus-Cheek further down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge.

Jorginho worked alongside Sarri to great effect at Napoli and has been instrumental so far this season while the Chelsea boss has already talked up signing Kovacic on a permanent deal.

Alongside that duo, Ross Barkley has been given an opportunity to demonstrate his talents after barely featuring under Antonio Conte and N’Golo Kante has been given a more advanced midfield role.

Loftus-Cheek had been linked with a move to Germany or France, but it now appears as if he will be staying with Chelsea for the time being.
