Former Trump lawyer wouldn’t accept a pardon from President Trump after his guilty plea to bank fraud and campaign finance violations on behalf of the president, his lawyer said Wednesday.

In various interviews, attorney Lanny Davis said isn’t seeking a pardon from the president and wants to tell all he knows to special counsel Robert Mueller.

“Under no circumstances would he accept a pardon from Mr. Trump,” Mr. Davis told NPR. “He (the president) not only directed a crime, he’s part of a cover-up.”

pleaded guilty to eight felony counts Tuesday in federal court in New York City, including charges connected to hush-money payments to two women who alleged affairs with Mr. Trump. He admitted that he made the illegal payments at the direction of an unspecified candidate for federal office in the 2016 election.

Mr. Davis told CNN that “came to the judgment after Mr. Trump’s election to the president of the United States that his suitability is a serious risk to our country.”

“His answer would be, ‘No, I do not want a pardon from this man,’ ” Mr. Davis said.

He said has knowledge of topics that should be of interest to Mr. Mueller’s investigators, and he’s “more than happy to tell the special counsel all that he knows,” including alleged advance knowledge of hacking of top Democrats’ emails during the campaign.
