GREATER NOIDA: A fire broke out at Haldiram’s packaging in J block of Sector 63 on Sunday morning. As many as 14 fire tenders were deployed at the spot and it took almost four hours to douse the flames. No one was injured as the factory was closed during the morning hours.

Fire station officer Naresh Kumar said they received the information around 5am and two fire tenders were immediately sent to the unit, but the flames could not be controlled.

Ten more vehicles from fires stations in sector s 2, 58 and Phase 2 were sent to the spot. The fire safety team was also joined by three fire vehicles from company after which all the vehicles surrounded the building and worked together to control the fire. .

The officers from the company also came with the map of the 1, 800 sqm plot which helped the fire fighters in controlling the fire. “The unit had packaging materials like paper bags, boxes, polythenes etc. There was no one in the single-storey factory when the fire broke out but almost everything got ,” Kumar added.

The guard at the factory gave the information to the fire safety due to which the cause of fire was not clear. However, the fire safety officer suspected a short circuit as the cause. Kumar said that a letter will be sent to the company to know about the loss on Monday.
