GREATER NOIDA: Two officers who had arrested the accused of molestation by an ADM’s wife and conducted the preliminary inquiry have been transferred the third time in over a .
Then circle officer Anit Kumar and station house officer Manish Saxena had been transferred to Dadri and Surajpur, respectively, after photos of the Army veteran handcuffed with other criminals appeared in media a day after he was arrested on August 14.
Both officers were sent to police lines a few days later. While Kumar was made the incharge of police lines, Saxena wasn’t given any post. On Sunday, they were transferred the third time after a report by divisional commissioner Anita Meshram and IG (Meerut range) Ram Kumar found them guilty of a shoddy probe.
Kumar has now been sentto the police recruitment board in Lucknow and Saxena has been transferred to the crime branch (CID).
Meshram and Ram Kumar were asked to conduct an inquiry into the case after a group of ex-servicemen submitted CCTV footage showing the ADM beating up the Army veteran along with his guard. The bureaucrat and his wife were booked for the alleged assault and have been untraceable since.
Earlier, on August 14, the ADM’s wife had accused the colonel of molesting her and trying to kidnap her from a park, following which the Army veteran was arrested.
The case took a turn when the CCTV clip showing the ADM assaulting the retired was submitted to the district magistrate.
Meshram and Ram Kumar submitted a report on Friday which apparently found that the two police officers did not carry out a proper investigation. The transfer orders were issued on Sunday.
On Sunday evening, SP (crime) visited the Army veteran’s house and spoke to him for three hours. The SP declined to comment on what transpired during the meeting.
