‘Lauren, you have been my rock over the last few years. And one thing I was thinking about today was who would have got the biggest kick out of this and it’s my mum and dad, and they are not here.
‘I have a feeling they are looking down. And now I look over to my son, Eric, and say, ‘maybe one day you will get one of these as well’.’
Simon’s star is number 2,642 on the Walk Of Fame.
He added: ‘It’s been a blast, the last 18 years. And if anyone says fame is a bad thing, I don’t know what they are talking about because it’s the best thing in the world.’
Simon first became a household name in 2001 when he sat on the panel for Pop Idol. He’s now said to be worth £300million.
He’s also gearing up for the new series of The X Factor, due to air on 1 September with Robbie Williams and his wife Ayda, Louis Tomlinson as judges.

The judges’ categories have apparently been revealed already, and this year Simon has the girls, Robbie has the groups, Ayda gets the Overs while Louis has the boys.
